New! Add PayPal as a Payment Gateway

How to add trust and credibility to your site’s checkout flow, and let site shoppers pay with confidence? Offer a payment method they know and count on, like PayPal - the new payment method now available for checkout.

Offer THE most familiar payment method to site visitors

PayPal is one of the most accepted payment methods worldwide, supporting online sellers from almost every country. Seeing the PayPal logo at checkout can increase your site’s overall checkout conversion since it’s a recognizable and trusted brand.

A powerful payment gateway that’s also flexible

With this new PayPal integration and capability, you can choose between these two checkout options:

The combined PayPal Advanced Credit Card Payments + Express Checkout option

This option lets store shoppers choose between the following two checkout options:

A. PayPal Advanced Credit Card Payments - This lets you customize the entire checkout experience, because site shoppers stay on your site during the checkout process instead of being directed to PayPal to complete or approve the payment.

B. Express Checkout - Users choose a Pay with PayPal option and are then redirected to the PayPal website to log in to their PayPal account, approve the payment and then return to your online store.

When choosing this combined option for your online store, keep in mind that PayPal Advanced Credit Card Payments is currently available only in select countries, and for Business PayPal accounts.

PayPal Express Checkout

This option offers the standard PayPal redirection, payment and then return to the online store once payment is approved. This requires online shoppers to have an active PayPal account with saved billing and shipping addresses.

The big advantage of the Express Checkout method is that it’s available in virtually every country, and doesn’t require a Business PayPal account.

Combined Stripe + PayPal Express Checkout

This option lets you keep your Stripe gateway (if you had it), and simply add the standard PayPal checkout option to your store checkout. The downside to this option is that Stripe is currently available only in the US, UK, and a few other countries.

How to add PayPal as a payment gateway

  1. In the editor, click on Ecommerce on the left panel.
  2. In the Site Overview screen, go to Settings > Payment gateways.
  3. Click the Connect button next to the PayPal option you prefer (choose between having both PayPal Advanced Credit Card Payments + Express Checkout credit card processing, and having just a credit card checkout without the PayPal branding).
